Hi everyone, welcome to my blog! My name is Veronica Gasinec and I am 17 years old. I am the current Miss Teen Barrie-World 2010 and am one of the finalists going on to compete in the Miss Teen Canada- World pageant for the chance to become Miss Teen Canada- World 2010 myself. Throughout my journey i will be sharing my experiences and raising awareness for Free The Children and my plat form against bullying.
In 1997 Oprah encouraged her viewers to join her in collecting spare change to help improve the lives of others. This quickly evolved into the Angel Network improving access to education, human rights and more. Together with Free the Children they started a school based program called O Ambassadors that encourages young adults to take part and be helpful global citizens. Across the US and Canada almost 2,000 O Ambassador clubs were formed and over $1.1 million raised.
The Angel Network and Free The Chldren built over 55 schools in 12 different countries and provided over $1 million in school supplies to children in South Africa. The Network also awards grants to different organizations around the globe, such as organizations that help girls and women and others that make differences in peoples lives.

There are many safe schools and subdivisions in Barrie, perfect for a relaxed life style. There is also a farm, Barrie Hill Farms, that familys can go and take a tractor ride and pick their own fruits such as strawberrys, blueberrys and rasberrys. Many go to pick and eat strawberrys together for family time in the sun!!

Barrie has Three malls, the Georgian mall, kozlov mall and Bayfield mall wich are all located close to each other making shopping an easy and fun experience. The city also has many fun activities such as tennis courts, soccer fields, arenas and skate parks. Downtown by the water, there is a fun and lively nightlife with bars and restaurants to entertain the more mature crowd. Barrie also has a number of movie theaters as well as a short distance away a drive-in movie theater that many enjoy. Over all Barrie is a lovely city with many things to do and see to entertain any generation.
Barrie is located in the south of Ontario, approximetly an hour north of Toronto. Barrie is perfectly located because it is a short distance from a major city, whoch offers individuals more jobs and entertainment, and even closer to Collingwood which is perfect for skiing. The city is also located on the Kempenfelt Bay where many go to boat, swim or just relax on the beach.
June 11 was my schools Prom. Everyone looked amazing and had a wonderful time. A few of my friends and I rented a Limo which took us down to the water front for pictures and then to our school for Dinner. The Prom committee did an awsome job transforming our school into a dinner hall. Everyone enjoyed their time together and celebrated our last four years together with a bang!
The special education department hosted the ball hockey tournament at my school on June 10th! There where many teams there fighting for the Gold! We had raffles and prizes set up as well as a barbeque. We were lucky to be joined by two OHL players from our cities own Barrie Colts who joined in on the fun and participated in a shoot of contest. Me and some of my cheer team participated in the fun and cheered all day for all the teams! The day was a blast and everyone had so much fun.
On May 1st and 2nd my school cheerleading team travelled down to Mississauga's Hershey center to compete in Canadas National Cheer competition 2010!! After 2 days, and 2 great runs we came in 3rd place, but only 5 points behind the first place team!! It was an exciting weekend and we put our hearts into our performance and it paid of!! :) GO KNIGHTS!
On Friday May 14 I participated in my schools car rally. Me and many of my senior classmates were all put in our own groups and met at our school parking lot. There we were given a sheet of instructions and tasks to do in four hours. Tasks included taking pictures at certain locations in Barrie and things like taking a picture with a police officer or dying your hair pink. Over all it was an amazing night, everyone enjoyed themselves and many great memories were made. In total we raised 450 dollars that is being donated to youth haven in our community.
Recently my computer aslo crashed so i lost all of my information and pictures, so i was unable to post pictures from the fashion show and will try my best to find a picture from the car rally to put up.
On Thursday, April the 22, I helped out at the Somcoe County 15th annual fashion show. The fashion show featured people with diassablilites of all ages showing off their different styles with clothes from different stores around Barrie. The Barrie fire department held the show, and helped escort the models and Jamie and Tara from Barries radio station B101 helped host the show. We also held a silent auction with over 60 items the largest being a rolex watch that was actioned off at 2200 dollars. It was a great show with great food and drinks served for everyone, and i know that everyone enjoyed themselves and had a good time.
